Since the beginning of time, the Sun has been provided us with the light needed to nourish the life-force of our planet. As mankind advanced, along with our technology, we have learned how to harness solar power to provide us with light and energy. Every hour the sun radiates enough solar power to supply the world’s population with the same amount of energy it is currently using in an entire year!

The Sun truly is our most valuable natural resource, and as the population continues to deplete our world of its non renewable resources, it is the way of the future. Outdoor solar lighting has already been successfully used in homes, cabins, parking lots, bus stops, campgrounds, construction sites, airports and has even been used to solve off highways safety hazards.

The mechanics behind outdoor solar lighting are like a larger scale version of the solar powered calculators that have been around for years. The solar cells collect sunlight during the day to recharge lithium batteries. Most units contain a photo control so that the lights come on at dusk automatically, and continue running until dawn, or for a preset number of hours. When fully charged, the average amount of “discharge” light time is 8-10 hours. The more sunlight received during the day, the longer the light will be able to operate at night. The next day the lights begin to recharge themselves again. They are not only safe and environmentally friendly; they offer the reassurance of having light through power outages. Outdoor solar lighting is sold in large quantities for large lighting, such as solar panels, as well as smaller lights like outdoor patio and garden lights.

Although the initial start up costs are more than traditional electric energy sources, but in the long term they save you money, running cost free after the initial purchase. In places that have never had electricity, solar lighting systems are cheaper than having power lines installed. It is also the answer for places where conventional electric energy has not even been an option. Outdoor solar lighting requires no wires or electricity, making it fast and easy to install, and with few movable parts require little to no maintenance. Without having to worry about wiring also means that the lights can be relocated if desired. Whether it be for residential, businesses or city municipality, outdoor solar lighting offers all of us the chance to work with the environment instead of against it, and in return supplies us with one of the most pure and simple things in life: light.
